I recorded this last night and thought I would post it here..
It’s been a while since I posted anything on Posterous and meant it. Ever since they got bought out in fact. Who knows how long the platform now has.
I am thinking of migrating this shed blog into my main blog http://Documentally.com I could then link http://Docuden.net to the relevent catagory or tags on my wordpress site. I thought about giving it it’s own wordpress site as dropping it into Documentally.com would of course break any of the links that have been posted to indevidual blog posts on other sites. When @RichardMackney helped me migrate all my content from OurManInside.com into Documentally I was amazed at how the links could all relocate and reassign seemlessly to the new blog.
I think we have a certain responsibility to keep these connections connected. Migrating our work breaks other peoples sites and the internet is full enough of holes as it is.
If only these ‘free’ sites we subscribe to could guarentee they will be around for X amount of years. With server space as cheap as it is you would think that the first round of funding could go towards buying storage time. Say 100 years. I know noone knows what the internet will look in the next 30 years.. Still I would feel a lot more comfortable as a content creator/story maker if i had some sort of guarentee that my stories and ideas would stay where i put them. At least for my lifetime.
There will be smarter people in the not too distant future who will of course solve these current issues and our words and pictures, thoughts and musings will live on as a cultural archive.
